Writer’s Resources

If you live near Bloomington, Indiana, check out The Writers Guild at Bloomington. The Guild has numerous events to attend, opportunities to read you work, lots of classes, and great people. Also, my critique group, OWLs, is a great way to share your writing and get and give support to fellow writers. If you are interested, contact me.

If you live near Naperville, Illinois, check out the Naperville Writers’ Group. They have weekly meetings where you can read your work and get feedback. Their literary magazine, Rivulets, is published yearly. And the people are helpful and friendly.

Want to market your writing? Check out The Creative Penn. It’s especially helpful if you plan to be an indie author, but even if you publish your book through a traditional publishing house, this site has helpful information. I have only looked at the material on marketing my books. Other information may be useful too, but I haven’t looked at it.

I attended a Highlights Foundation workshop on the historical novel. The food was delicious, the scenery was beautiful, and the cabin was cozy. Most important, the instructors were outstanding and I learned things I used in Becoming Mia and will use in all my future novels.

I took the very informative online course, One Brick at a Time, about constructing scenes.

I used wordpress.com to build this website.  It is easy to learn and I built the website pretty quickly. For a starter CMS/Host it has worked well for me. I pay a small annual fee so be add free.
